Adam Driver (born Adam Douglas Driver on November 19, 1983 in San Diego, California) is an American actor. Adam moved to Mishawaka, Indiana when he was seven. He graduated from Mishawaka High School in 2001, and joined the Marine Corps shortly after the September 11 attacks. He was medically discharged before he could be deployed to Iraq. He attended the University of Indianapolis for a year before transferring to Julliard to study drama. He graduated with a degree in Fine Arts in 2009. That year, he began acting in New York City, appearing in both Broadway and off Broadway productions. He made his film debut in 2011’s J. Edgar, directed by Clint Eastwood. A year later, he was cast in HBO’s Girls as the Lena Dunham’s character’s boyfriend, Adam Sackler. In addition to his role on Girls, he has appeared in Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln and in Noah Baumbach’s Frances Ha. In 2014, he appeared in This Is Where I leave You and While We’re Young. He was also cast as by J.J. Abrams to appear in Star Wars: The Force Awakens as the film’s main antagonist, Kylo Ren.
