Jim Nantz (born James William Nantz, III on May 17, 1959 in Charlotte, North Carolina) is an American sportscaster. Jim grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana and Marlboro Township, New Jersey. He was co-captain of the Marlboro High School basketball team and the number one golf player. After graduating, Jim enrolled in the University of Houston, majoring in broadcasting while playing on the Houston Cougars men’s golf team. While in college, Jim worked with the CBS Radio Network, transmitting taped interviews to Win Elliot for Sports Central USA’s weekend reports. After working as an anchor and sportscaster for KHOU Houston, he joined CBS in 1985. Jim worked as a studio host for the network’s college football and basketball coverage. He also worked as an on-course reported for the PGA Tour. In 1998, Jim hosted CBS’s pre-game program, The NFL Today, which became The NFL on CBS. He became the network’s top play-by-play announcer in 2004, teaming him up with Phil Simms. In 2007, he called the play-by-play for Super Bowl XLI, becoming one of four announcers to ever call both a Super Bowl and an NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship game. In 2016, Jim was named, along with Phil, as the broadcasting team for Super Bowl 50.

Personal Life:
Jim married Ann-Lorraine Carlsen for 26 years before they divorced in 2009. They had one child together, a daughter named Caroline. In 2012, Jim married Courtney Richards and in 2014, they welcomed a baby girl. Jim published his first book, Always By My Side – A Father’s Grace and a Sports Journey Unlike Any Other, in 2008. He partnered with wine producer Peter Deutsch in 2009 to launch a private wine label, The Calling.
