Kenny Rogers (born Kenneth Ray Rogers on August 21, 1938 in Houston, Texas) is an American singer-songwriter. Kenny was born the fourth child of eight, growing up poor with his family. After he graduated from Jefferson Davis High School, Kenny decided to pursue a musical career. He scored his first hit single in 1958 with “That Crazy Feeling.” In the mid 1960s, Kenny mixed folk, rock and country. With his group, First Edition, he scored a hit “Just Dropped In.” By the mid-70s, Kenny restarted his solo career, focusing strictly on music. His “Love Lifted Me” became his first solo top country hit, following it with “Lucille,” and one of his most known hits, “The Gambler.” The album of the same name won Kenny his second Grammy award. During the next four decades, Kenny continued to perform and record, releasing hit songs like “Lady,” “I Don’t Need You,” and hit duets with Sheena Easton (“We’ve Got Tonight”) and Dolly Parton (“Island In The Streams.”) On Sept. 25, 2015, Kenny announced he was retiring from show business, after a final tour, to spend more time with his family.

From 1958 to 1960, he was married to Janice Gordon. They had one child together. Kenny and Jean Rogers were married in 960. They divorced in 1963. A year later, Kenny married Margo Anderson. They had a child together before splitting in 1976. From 1977 up to 1993, Kenny was with actress Marianne Gordon. They had one son, Christopher Cody, before they broke up. Kenny and Wanda Miller were married in 1997 and in 2004, they welcomed a twin boys — Justin and Jordan.
